A word in your ear

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Here at Waterfold and Worcester Lodge we recently placed  the English Heritage signs previously on our fence, down on the main road. This way more people could  see them and could be directed up to Witley Court.

But this was just the start of a wave of invective against us. “You have no right to put private signs up”, “we’re taking this to a higher authority”, you better watch out, you don’t know what you’ve started!!!” etc. At no point would  anyone allow us to simply tell them we had only changed an existing sign from plot A to plot B. Village politics. Who needs it?

The Parish Council  was initially behind the dark forces of the invectifiers, but we had a word in their ear and they understood we were simply local people living a local life, with no axe to grind – unlike the other parishioners. Hopefully it’s all now resolved, but really!! Do we need all this?

What makes you happy?

So what do you really want out of life? A fast car, to be a TV celebrity or to be a humble labourer on a piece of land you can call your own? It’s about time we all knew. What about you?
